What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal filler injections containing Hyaluronic Acid are one of the most widely known treatments in the anti-ageing field.
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin, fillers provide hydration, shape, balance and structure to the treated areas.
At Dr. Jenny Clinic, we use only premium, CE-marked dermal filler products and focus on achieving natural, balanced results that complement your unique features: never exaggerated or overfilled.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Most dermal fillers are composed of Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring molecule found within our skin. Depending on the filler type, this gelatinous substance comes in varying degrees of viscosity and elasticity meaning that depending on your aesthetic concerns and areas to be treated, we can tailor which filler type is injected where.
This allows for fine-tuned treatment plans and above all, optimal, safe and natural results.
Because of their gel-like composition, dermal fillers can be used to restore volume in areas such as the cheeks and lips, to achieve a contouring effect in areas such as the jawline or to help improve the appearance of lines in areas such as the nasolabial folds.
The hyaluronic acid they contain also has a hydrating effect within the overlying and surrounding tissues, this makes it a great treatment option for subtle and natural lip rejuvenation.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Dermal Filler?
Dermal fillers are versatile and can be used in a variety of areas to treat a variety of concerns:
Lips: Enhancement and hydration
Peri-oral region: Rejuvenation of the skin around the lips
Nasolabial folds: Softening lines from the nose to mouth
Cheeks: Augmentation and contouring
Jawline and chin: Sculpting and definition
Marionette lines: Reduction of lines from mouth to chin
Hands: Restoration of volume and youthfulness
What to Expect from Dermal Filler Treatment
You will undergo a full medical consultation before proceeding to determine the most suitable treatment regimen for you
Numbing cream is applied for comfort prior to treatment
Treatment involves administering the filler through small injections, either using a fine needle or a cannula (blunt metallic tube ideal for contouring larger areas)
The dermal fillers we use contain a local anaesthetic and so the treatment gets more comfortable as we progress but to ensure your comfort throughout, the area is pre-treated with a fast-acting local anaesthetic cream.
Patients find they are able to continue their day as normal with no restrictions, but there may be some tenderness and visible bruising and swelling to take into account
Results are visible instantly, however they continue to settle into their final, natural result over 2-4 weeks
It is advisable to start with conservative volumes that respect and enhance your natural anatomy. If desired, additional volume can be added after 4–6 weeks at a second treatment session
Results can last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the area treated and individual factors
Dermal filler injections are not suitable for anyone under the age of 21 or patients who are breast-feeding or pregnant. We also advise against having the injections while you are actively taking blood thinning medications or following a recent exacerbation of cold sores.
